Beautiful Disfarmer

Posted By on Tue, Jul 21, 2009 at 10:32 AM

Famed jazz guitarist Bill Frisell has just put out a nice album called "Disfarmer," in honor of the late eccentric Arkansas genius photographer whose heartbreakingly beautiful photos of ordinary Arkansans now are fetching thousands of dollars each in New York art galleries.

Tracks on the album include "Peter Miller's Discovery," "I Am Not a Farmer" and "Arkansas, Parts 1, 2 and 3."

  • An eerie feeling

You get an eerie feeling when reading "Hellhound on His Trail," Hampton Sides' great new book that traces James Earl Ray's stalking of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968.There's an overwhelming feeling of the horrific similarity between the national mood in 1968 (George Wallace was making a serious run at the White House) and today.
