Obama: Drag on Dems?

Posted By on Fri, Jul 24, 2009 at 10:03 AM

Here's a bit of polling ephemera that has some interest in the current news context. As you know, President Obama's weakened state is widely presumed to make his health care fight difficult and to make Democrats vulnerable, particularly in McCain-friendly states, to Republican gains.

A polling firm looked at Obama's favorable ratings in Southern states carried easily by McCain. Interesting factoid: Obama's favorable ratings among white Democrats in those states -- including Arkansas -- are measurably higher now than they were in November when, presumably, many of those white Democrats voted for John McCain.

Who knows. Any shred of hope in a storm.

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
