Pity the poor Blue Dogs

Posted By on Mon, Jul 27, 2009 at 6:03 AM

Or pity the Democratic Party's ability to govern on account of Blue Dogs like Rep. Mike Ross, Brummett writes. (Whatever you do, don't call them fiscal conservatives. They'll spend plenty when it comes to their pet issues, earmarks, defense extravagance, agri subsidies, etc.).

Krugman today writes about why the Blue Dogs don't make sense on health care.

UPDATE: Roby Brock's Talk Business has an interview with Blue Dog Mike Ross. Among others, he insists he supports a public option for health insurance.

  • Another Republican miracle-working governor

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
