The dog's day

U.S. Mike Ross gets prime time in the NY Times account of the health legislation deal brokered yesterday with Blue Dog Democrats (still reflexively termed "fiscal conservatives" despite their advocacy to ratchet up health care spending for their local providers and numerous past episodes of extravagant spending for the likes of  military and agriculture pet projects.) This may be the best possible deal in the mess this issue has become. We'll see in September, after several more weeks of lobbying by the rich special interests that have been driving the train. E.G., a physician-owned hospital that has been oiling Democrats.
