Saving cash for clunkers

Posted By on Fri, Jul 31, 2009 at 11:08 AM

Contrary to GOP Noise Machine propaganda, the "cash for clunkers" car rebate program is imperiled because it's too popular. The money has been snapped up. The problem is not administration, though the rush of claims has certainly jammed up the system.

Here's the good news for clunker owners: The Obama administration vows today that the program WILL continue. Legislation has been introduced to put more money into it, probably stimulus funds. Can we agree that buying cars has a stimulative effect on the economy?

The House voted to put $2 billion more in the program. The Senate will vote on the bill next week. Sen. Blanche Lincoln says she's on board.
