Now it's Jacksonville ...

... No. 2 in line after Carlisle to formally prepare to pitch a site for relocation of the Arkansas State Fair. No mention in D-G coverage of the source of the $100 million plus necessary for construction of a new fair in Jacksonville.

Meanwhile, I hear the quiet NLR effort to make a pitch is building steam. Will Mayor Hays go to the sales tax well once more? Create a countywide TIF district? Float bonds requiring a pledge of a portion of admission receipts?

Money talks. A proven abundance of it should be necessary to land a new location, not a dreamy pledge of state taxpayer support. Its absence is probably the only thing that will preserve LR as continuing home for the fair.
