Blue Dog barks

Todays' the day U.S. Rep. Mike Ross will officially declare his already obvious opposition to a public health insurance plan, Brummett reports.

I lament his surely inevitable decision, but understand the politics and concede he has a worthy counterpoint. It is that we can have worthy health insurance reform (and help his diner friend and her employees) without a public option. He argues we can do that if we mandate that everyone get health insurance, steer the uninsured into new health care exchanges and provide the uninsured with subsidies up to 400 percent of the federal poverty level.

Here's a report on Ross' statement to constituents. If a majority oppose a public option, as he says, I'd like to know how the question was phrased.
