Brummett blogs here about the continuing efforts by Republicans to use undocumented aliens as a wedge to defeat health insurance reform. Now, he writes, they don’t want aliens to be insured if 1) they pay for insurance themselves or 2) if they haven’t been legal residents a sufficient period of time.

Again: there are no circumstances under which Republicans will approve health legislation sponsored by Democrats. Everything else is a pretext to Just Say No. Catering to each new imagined problem is a futile exercise and a demonstration of weakness.
