Newspaper war: Armistice day near?

Posted By on Wed, Oct 7, 2009 at 4:36 PM

Chris Spencer reports on his new Ozarks Unbound website that the shakeout of the Northwest Arkansas newspaper war is near, with an editor from the Stephens-owned Morning News reportedly preparing to visit Hussman-owned properties in Fayetteville and Bentonville as part of the move to merge the Stephens newspapers with Arkansas Democrat-Gazette properties. Things could happen fast. Dozens of layoffs are expected, covering every level of the newspaper operations, as two organizations become one and "redundancies" are eliminated.
