Wills' fig leaf on ethics

Posted By on Wed, Oct 7, 2009 at 6:13 AM

Roby Brock reports that House Speaker Robbie Wills has shaped a fig leaf to cover greed of fellow House members who've voted to end a rule that prevented legislators from raising campaign money for 30 days before, during and 30 days after a legislative session.

Wills would prohibit giving during the section. Big whoop. Book your party rooms now for the night before the session, when all have assembled, or the day after to pass along checks in expectation of good service or for a job well-done.

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
