LR schools needing improvement

Posted By on Thu, Oct 8, 2009 at 6:18 AM

The state will release today Friday the statewide school improvement list -- where students are not making sufficient progress as measured by test scores. This can mean entire school populations or targeted demographic segments of a school.

School districts get the news early. Here's the Little Rock School District list, which indicates year-to-year changes in status. The school district was hoping to change status on at least two schools before the release, Central and Brady, a note from the superintendent said. (A reader tells me further that Central wouldn't be on the list but for the department's inclusion of students at an alternative school who do not attend Central but live in the Central zone. Strange call, seems like, to blame their advancement or lack of on a school they don't attend.)
