Could the two big multistate lotteries join forces to create a national lottery? Might that then produce a Walton-sized jackpot someday? The games, Mega Millions and Powerball, are talking.

Let's see. A billion-dollar win, payable as a lump sum, after taxes, would be about, what, $330 million? Still not Walton sized, but sufficient to keep me in Slim Jims and Miller quarts for a while.
