Age and race divides on same sex marriage

Posted By on Tue, Oct 20, 2009 at 9:40 AM

Polling in Maine on a referendum to overturn the state's same-sex marriage law turns up demographic divides that have been evident elsewhere. Opinion overall is about evenly split -- but whites and younger people support the same-sex marriage law while non-whites (a significant margin) and people over 65 oppose it. The vote is in two weeks. LA Times notes the similarity with the fight in California, though a much smaller budget. Care to help the campaign to protect equality in Maine?
