G-P to idle Fordyce mill; 300 layoffs

Posted By on Fri, Oct 23, 2009 at 2:31 PM

Coincidence. I wrote a little while ago about Americans for Prosperity, the special interest group to be fronted by Fox stooge John Stossel when it brings its campaign against universal health care to Little Rock next week.

I mentioned that the Koch family funded Americans for Prosperity.

You know what else the Koch family owns? Georgia-Pacific. G-P announced today that it is laying off the 300-person workforce at its Fordyce plywood mill. They'll have time, I guess, to attend the Americans for Prosperity rally.

Another recent news coincidence: Fordyce is in the biggest lottery-playing county per capita in Arkansas.

  • Another Republican miracle-working governor

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
