Subject: Change in Holiday Leave Policy

We have reviewed our annual leave and holiday structure recently, comparing ourselves with other universities and state agencies. UAMS offers employees a very generous package of benefits, especially in the area of annual leave and holiday days off.  We have made a decision to remove the employee’s anniversary date of hire from the list of holidays.  It is not offered to other state or university employees, and we need to bring our holiday policy in closer alignment with that of our peer agencies.    Beginning December 1 please let your faculty and staff know this holiday will no longer be available at UAMS.  If an employee has already taken the holiday, it cannot be rescinded but going forward, it will not be part of our annual list of holidays.
