Let us pray for Rick Warren

Posted By on Wed, Dec 2, 2009 at 9:10 AM

Rick Warren, the popular preacher who President Obama included in his inauguration ceremonies amid some controversy, now refuses to take a stand on legislation supported by his friends in Uganda that would give life sentences, even the death penalty, to homosexuals. Said Warren:

The fundamental dignity of every person, our right to be free, and the freedom to make moral choices are gifts endowed by God, our creator. However, it is not my personal calling as a pastor in America to comment or interfere in the political process of other nations.

This opens up a whole range of moral outrages, including past and current genocides, on which Warren would presumably stand mute on account of his reluctance to interfere in the political process. Maybe he should Google the name Martin Niemoller.

This Uganda thing is also linked to The Family, that secretive evangelical/political group in Washington that numbers Sen. Mark Pryor among its friends.
