Straws in the wind

John Brummett says the Republican straw poll last Saturday on the U.S. Senate race -- won narrowly by Sen. Gilbert Baker -- means little. He finds more significance in 1) conservative speech-making by former Rep. Ed Bethune and 2) the likely emergence of more candidates, namely Stanley Reed and Jim Holt.
