The unfriendly skies

Posted By on Sat, Dec 26, 2009 at 3:12 PM

A federal charge was filed today against the Nigerian who apparently tried to destroy a plane landing in Detroit yesterday. Turns out a Duch film director may have been the hero of the episode, jumping the passenger as he tried to ignite a hidden powder.

In addition to tightened scrutiny at security checkpoints, it seems likely that in-flight rules will change, including limitations on items in laps and restrictions on accessing carry-on bags in the hour before landing. Here's more on new security rules. Prepare for delays.

I just dropped a flier at LR National. Lots of problems on account of weather delays at connecting airports, but the security checkpoint seemed to be working normally. A four-hour delay on a flight into Chicago, however.
