Fire at Oyster Bar

Posted By on Thu, Dec 31, 2009 at 10:05 AM

Don't head to Stifft Station for lunch today. The venerable Oyster Bar will be closed. A spokesman reports a small electrical fire in a walk-in cooler this morning at the rear of the restaurant. The Fire Department extinguished it quickly.

The restaurant is currently without power and reopening today looks problematic, the spokesman said. The restaurant had planned to close New Year's Day. Not to worry. "We're still standing," she said.

UPDATE: Judging from the crowd, they were ableto get the restaurant back up and running for lunch.
