Marriage case goes to trial

Posted By on Mon, Jan 11, 2010 at 6:50 AM

The New York Times sets the stage for opening of arguments today in the case challenging the constitutionality of California's ban on same sex marriage.

Arkansas native Chad Griffin, who heads the group that hired David Boies and Ted Olson to argue the challenge, is quoted.

Still pending is the legal effort by opponents of gay marriage to keep the case from being televised on a delayed basis. They like to do their work in secret.

UPDATE: The U.S. Supreme Court has temporarily blocked broadcast of the trial. It wants more time to consider the request to block it permanently. Will the right-wing court pander to the oppressors?
