Lincoln and the liberals

Posted By on Wed, Jan 13, 2010 at 6:31 AM

Do disaffected liberals, maybe 15 percent of the vote in Arkansas, spell trouble for U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln? Politico takes the question on today.

In a primary against a well-funded, exciting progressive candidate? Maybe. No such matchup exists. In a general election against one of the teabaggers likely to win the Republican nomination? Not overmuch, except to the extent that any candidate needs all the enthusiasm she can muster. But I won't be voting for Jim Holt. Only those who believe in cutting off their noses to spite their faces (see Ralph Naderites) will vote for a Green candidate given such a choice.
