Dem-GOP cage match at UALR

Posted By on Thu, Jan 14, 2010 at 2:07 PM

Well, OK, it's not a cage match. Though that might be entertaining.

But Republican chairman Michael Steele and Democratic Leadership Council president Harold Ford Jr. (who's toying with a race for U.S. Senate in New York) will match wits in a debate at UALR at 7 p.m. Feb. 4 at the campus Center for Performing Arts.

It's a Black History Month observance arranged by the Office of Campus Life. Admission is free but tickets are required. Details on getting them at the link.

UALR said the two men will be paid $40,000, total, for the appearance.

BY THE WAY: Republicans haven't been happy about the speaking fees Steele has been piling up while nominally working full-time leading the party.
