The state Republican Party held a news conference this morning at Verizon Arena  to announce the coming visit from the gubernatorial quitter Sarah Palin. Details on the jump, but most had been leaked previously.

It will be an evening event Feb. 16, with $175 dinner tickets and $500 tickets to get a chance to touch the rogue's garment at a reception. Some peanut gallery seats will be available for much less -- as little as $35 -- to watch dinner attendees from upper level seats, in the manner in which the common folk once were allowed to sit in balconies to watch the masked dancing swells twirl below them at Mardi Gras balls in New Orleans.

A Republican spokesman refused to provide a figure on Palin's speaking fee.

ALSO ON THE GOP FRONT: The Pulaski County Tea Party has sent word that Jeremy Hutchinson, Republican candidate for state Senate, is holding a watch party Tuesday night at Luigi's Pizza in Bryant to cheer the hoped-for victory of teabagger Scott Brown in the race for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts. "Please note that this email does not imply an endorsement by the Pulaski County Tea Party.  We are forwarding the invitation as a service to our members to share information we believe you are interested in."
