Henry Woods memorial service

Posted By on Fri, Jan 22, 2010 at 7:53 AM

Friends of the late congressional aide Henry Woods, who died recently in Key West, ask me to issue a reminder of a memorial service for him at 1 p.m. Saturday in Room 209 of the Hot Springs Convention Center.

Former Sens. David Pryor and Dale Bumpers will be among the speakers.

His longtime associate Ann Pride of Washington will be among the speakers.
UofA chancellor David Geahart and his wife, Jane (who was a classmate of Woods at the Univ. of Ark.) will be among those in attendance. Woods edited the centennial edition of the Arkansas Razorback, the school's yearbook in 1971-72.
Also attending will be many on worked with Woods in Washington (including former congressional intern Shane Broadway) and some who have received the Henry Woods Outstanding Student Leader Award at the University of Arkansas including the first recipient Jordan Johnson of Little Rock (now with CJRW and spokesperson for William J. Clinton Foundation in Ark.) and the most recent Nate Looney of Jonesboro, now a student at the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law.  This award was established  when Woods left in Washington in 1999 after over 25 years of service there.
A specially designed collectors/commemorative button will also be given to those in attendance in memory of Woods, a political junkie.
