GOP rumble in the 3rd

Posted By on Mon, Feb 1, 2010 at 9:44 AM

A Republican activist says noise is growing that  state Sen. Cecile Bledsoe will run for the Third District congressional opening. Incumbent Rep. John Boozman is expected to announce for U.S. Senate on Saturday. (Correction: I totally screwed up Bledsoe's current office in the original post. I apparently slept through the last two years. She's in her first Senate term.)

My tipster thinks Bledsoe's entry would kill Rogers Mayor Steve Womack's hopes for the seat. (Just an opinion, mayor, just an opinion.) He also believes that it would mean there'd be no need for lobbyist and former congressman Asa Hutchinson to enter the race to keep it safely in the hands of the right sort of Republican.
