Republican litmus test

Posted By on Mon, Feb 1, 2010 at 3:01 PM

The Arkansas Democratic Party endeavors to make an issue of the Republican National Committee's approval of a resolution that imposes a litmus test on core conservative issues for candidates seeking RNC support. Message: Moderation is not a virtue in today's Republican Party.

“With the Republican Party imposing a stringent, far-right litmus test for candidates, will Arkansas Republicans embrace or reject it?”  said Gabe Holmstrom, Senior Advisor to the Democratic Party of Arkansas. “These candidates will need to be careful not to pull a muscle bending over backwards to gain favor with the fringe of the party. Now it’s time for Arkansas Republican Senate candidates to come clean and tell voters where they really stand.”

Answer: They will embrace it. Ardently. With no ill effect among at least 44 percent of the voters (Jim Holt's vote in 2004).
