Tim Griffin, Republican candidate for 2nd District Congress, had his fingerprints all over a Republican vote “caging” operation in Florida — a sophisticated effort to disqualify likely Democratic voters from casting votes for president in 2004. He says it’s not true. His own e-mails say otherwise.
Is it much of an issue in this race? Not in the primary, certainly. The poor, black vote — target of the suppression effort — will be minimal in the Republican contest. In the general election? Still probably not a major issue except as a “tell” on the candidate’s past if he wins the nomination. It’s old and complicated to explain. Nonetheless, the Democratic campaign apparatus continues to work it — the latest this video.
