No improvement in reading scores

A sample of Arkansas 4th- and 8th-grade students showed no improvement in spring 2009 testing on scores made in 2007 on the National Assessment of Educational Progress.

The state Education Department emphasizes the positive -- Arkansas didn't decline and national scores were largely unchanged as well -- and pledges future improvement in this news release.
