Ark. judge confirmed

Posted By on Wed, May 5, 2010 at 2:39 PM

One down and three to go. The Senate today confirmed President Obama's nomination of Appeals Court Judge Price Marshall of Jonesboro (pictured recently with Sen. Blanche Lincoln, who advocated his appointment) to a vacancy on the federal district court bench in Arkansas.

Marshall will succeed Judge Bill Wilson, who took senior status, a form of retirement.

Three vacancies remain to be filled. P.K. Holmes of Fort Smith has been nominated for one; the president has not yet made a recommendation on two other vacancies, though he's received suggestions from the state's senators.

The Senate has worked through at least one other Obama appointee today.
