Annals of gun nuttery

Posted By on Fri, May 7, 2010 at 6:19 AM

Many have been outraged that a suspected terrorist boarded an airplane to leave the country despite being on a no-fly list.

But the New York Times wonders why Congress can't summon outrage at the gun lobby, which has so far stymied legislation to prevent sale of guns to people on the no-fly list. The suspected Times Square bomber possessed a legally obtained gun. Here's some news coverage of bipartisan testimony in favor of this legislation, which I should have identified more precisely as limiting sales of guns and explosives to those on the federal terror watch list.

The NRA, naturally, is also opposing legislation to provide more transparency about the financing of political attack ads.
