If Bill Halter is to overcome Blanche Lincoln, he'll have to do it in Lower Arkansas, where the angry anti-incumbent sentiment carried Bill Halter to victory after victory in the preferential primary.

Will it happen again?

The answer on sentiment is yes. The answer on sufficiency of votes won't be known for a while.

But a reliable correspondent provides the final 100 percent vote from Miller County (Texarkana) and it's a repeat of the first primary trend:

Halter 2,279
Lincoln 929

You start adding enough of these up down there and you offset Pulaski County, etc.

Maybe my vision of a Lincoln as phoenix was a bit premature.

(Also, I think Cooper Tire workers told Blanche to go to hell.)
