So sorry, Weiner

Posted By on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 7:29 AM

John Brummett explains — not that reason has much to do with this current issue — why there are minimum enrollment requirements for school districts and why the lines have to be drawn somewhere, though inequities might occur on either side of that line. Mostly, he criticizes Republican gubernatorial candidate Jim Keet for opportunistically leaping to the defense of the nearly-dead Weiner School District, to be merged with Harrisburg.

All of that is to say it disappoints that the newest Republican candidate for governor, Jim Keet, sold out to cynical political expediency and stood the other day to protest with Weiner advocates and chronic anti-government complainers. Alarmingly, he called for “revisiting” the whole school consolidation agony.
