Posted By on Wed, Aug 4, 2010 at 3:06 PM

Lawyers for Audubon Arkansas and the Sierra Club are making arguments today before federal Judge Bill Wilson that construction should be halted on American Electric Power's coal-powered generating station in Hempstead County. the environmental group are contesting water permits issued for the plant, which they say will be damaging to the environemt.

No ruling is expected today. Arguments today are effectively opening arguments for a hearing set in late September on a request for a preliminary injunction to stop the work. No temporary order is expected today.
