Two dead in Pleasant Valley

Posted By on Thu, Aug 5, 2010 at 10:45 AM

Police say an elderly couple who lived at 99 El Dorado Drive in Pleasant Valley were found dead in the kitchen of their home this morning. Lt. Terry Hastings said officers responded to a telephone call of a murder-suicide at the address about 8 a.m.. The caller was male. Police are currently operating under the assumption that the man shot his wife, made the phone call and then shot himself, Hastings said.

The police have now identified the dead as Armistead C. Freeman, 81, and his wife Gail, 75. Police say Freeman shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself. A friend of the family told the Times that Armistead Freeman had been in ill health. Freeman was a former co-owner of the Pine Bluff Commercial.

  • Another Republican miracle-working governor

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
