Whew — close call in Saline County

Posted By on Wed, Aug 11, 2010 at 6:22 AM

I don't know about you, but I'm breathing easier this morning now that Saline County voters have thrashed, by a nearly 3-1 margin, a tax increase proposal to build a fair complex in Benton. A UN-takeover of Saline County, with Pat Hays and Buddy Villines poised to extend the takeover into Pulaski, was the hidden agenda behind the cow barns and rodeo arena.

PS — Passage of a public safety tax in Jonesboro is a pretty good indication of the fact that voters aren't resolutely anti-tax if the need is demonstrated and framed properly.
