Calling the ACLU

Posted By on Wed, Sep 1, 2010 at 2:57 PM

Interesting video. The real action starts just before the 6-minute mark. The elements: Jonesboro cops. A traffic stop. A man with a camera who loudly criticizes the cops' behavior. You can guess where it ends up — handcuffs for the cameraman.

Once again: I stilll believe there's no crime in calling a cop an unflattering name, certainly not from the sanctity of one's own home. But that doesn't mean it's a good idea.

UPDATE: Jonesboro Sun has a report on the case. The man arrested has a past. Not that that's relevant to whether police should invade a guy's property because he called them a name. Get a picture of his life, too, from his Facebook page. He chooses for his picture an image of Dale Gribble, Hank Hill's paranoid neighbor on King of the Hill.

My colleagues John Ray and Jesse Bacon and I estimate, in the first analysis of its kind for the 2018 election season, that the president's waning popularity isn't limited to coastal cities and states. The erosion of his electoral coalition has spread to The Natural State, extending far beyond the college towns and urban centers that voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016. From El Dorado to Sherwood, Fayetteville to Hot Springs, the president's approval rating is waning.
