The New York Times today notes the growing opposition from Republican candidates for governor in several key states to Obama administration stimulus money for high-speed rail projects. Arkansas rail advocates have hopes for a high-speed route through Arkansas someday and sought stimulus money for study of a Texarkana-Memphis corridor, but were rebuffed. State officials have continued to look for planning money.
