Col. Reb not going quietly

Posted By on Fri, Oct 15, 2010 at 8:31 AM

Since it's spurred such robust conversation previously, I thought I'd mention that Ole Miss students and community have voted to have a "Rebel black bear" replace Col. Reb as the mascot for sports teams.

Col. Reb fans are not going quietly, as you might guess. What's next? Secession? Brother against brother? Dueling chicken wings in The Grove? Re-enactors of the bloody battle 100 years from now? What would David O. Dodd say?

ASU fans accepted the retirement of Injun Joe with far more grace.
