NLR alderman Baggett convicted

Posted By on Sat, Dec 18, 2010 at 5:44 AM

A federal jury last night convicted North Little Rock Alderman Sam Baggett of helping provide guns and ammunition to a convicted felon, George Thompson of Cabot, and making false statements to the FBI and ATF agents. Thompson also was convicted on firearms, gambling and other charges.

Here's the U.S. attorney's announcement of the verdicts.

Sentencing will follow a probation office report. It was already past time for Baggett to resign from the Council. Perhaps one of his character witnesses, Mayor Hays, can convince him to do so now.
