I guess I didn’t get the memo that today was functionally another holiday. Not much happening in our corner of the world. Maybe you can enliven tonight’s open line.
In Washington, the right-wing never sleeps:
* The fight continues against gays in the military — at least against the possibility that gay and straight people may shower together. That seems to be what the rearguard battle boils down to.
* More ominously, Republicans have hired veterans of the health lobbying industry to began to tear apart the health care reform legislation.
Elsewhere:
* A Florida college baseball star has been charged with rape in the Bahamas. The local connection is that the father of the man charged has been quoted as saying the women who filed the rape complaint identified themselves as University of Arkansas students.
