Do deficits really matter?

Posted By on Tue, Dec 28, 2010 at 10:20 AM

Answer to the question: No, if the deficits are caused by tax cuts. New rules in the works for the Republican majority in the House would ban new spending that increases the deficit but not new tax cuts that increase the deficit. They'll also ban increased spending paid for by proposed tax and fee increases. Heckuva way to run a government. For now, it's academic because Republicans don't control the Senate. But someday, it could be catastrophic.
