Gov. Beebe throws a party

Still time to buy tickets to Gov. Mike Beebe's second inaugural festivities next week. (But wait. Isn't the Democratic Party supposed to be spending money it received from Beebe campaign surplus on the inaugural? Why not do it Huey P. Long style? "Who gave a party at the Peabody Hotel? And invited the whole state down there for free? ...")

Anyway, this link will take you to details of the entertainment. A Johnny Cash tribute band at the bbq-catfish fry Monday night; a big band from the Arkansas Symphony, Lawrence Hamilton and Party Planet, a Memphis band, will appear at the inaugural ball Tuesday night.

    Word continues to filter in of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette's pullback from statewide circulation of a print daily edition of the newspaper — the latest from the Hot Springs area, just 50 or so miles down the road from Little Rock. Subscribers there were told home delivery of a print paper would end in May.
