Elana Wills named to PSC

Posted By on Fri, Jan 7, 2011 at 3:46 PM

I was just wondering this morning what Elana Wills would be doing now that her appointed stint in a state Supreme Court seat has ended (and a good one it was). Now I know. Gov. Mike Beebe has appointed her to the state Public Service Commission, replacing Paul Suskie, who left for a job with the Southwest Power Pool.

Commissioner Colette Honorable, another Beebe appointee, will assume Suskie's role as chairman.

And how about this: Highway Commissioner Cliff Hoofman, a former state senate pal of Beebe, has been named by the governor to fill Karen Baker's seat on the Arkansas Court of Appeals. She's rising to the state Supreme Court. Hoofman has resigned from the Highway Commission and a successor will be named soon. Doug Martin of Fayetteville was named to replace Courtney Henry, also moving from the Court of Appeals to the Supreme Court. Both appointees will serve through 2012.

Beebe also appointed Ernest Cate as Springdale district judge and Tom Wynne of Fordyce as Dallas County district judge.

CORRECTION: My original headline incorrectly said Wills would chair the PSC.
