Dirty tricks?

Posted By on Wed, Jan 26, 2011 at 1:33 PM

Live Action, an anti-abortion group that has performed undercover investigations at abortion clinics, will neither confirm nor deny that it has sent a man to Planned Parenthood clinics in five states representing himself as a sex trafficker.

Planned Parenthood has asked the FBI to investigate the man, who they suspect is actually part of a video entrapment campaign. The man has told Planned Parenthood employees that he's seeking health care advice for prostitutes who are undocumented aliens and minors.

Philanthropy Today's report on the story is here. The spokesman for the Arkansas Planned Parenthood office said there's no indication the man has visited here; Planned Parenthood in Arkansas does not offer abortion services.

  • Trump immigration protest at LR: Quick and fierce

It was not even 24 hours ago that Sophia Said, director of the Interfaith Center; City Director Kathy Webb and others decided to organize a protest today of Donald Trump's executive order that has left people from Muslim countries languishing in airports or unable to come to the US at all — people with visas, green cards,a  post-doc graduate student en route to Harvard, Google employees abroad, families. I got the message today before noon; others didn't find out until it was going on. But however folks found out, they turned out in huge numbers, more than thousand men, women and children, on the grounds of the state Capitol to listen to speakers from all faiths and many countries.

Many Medicaid beneficiaries work full time — or more — but only a portion of the year, the lead author of the study noted. Among the group of recipients who aren't exempt but are currently working, he said, "we found they’re averaging about 35 hours per week. So it’s not that they’re opting to not work ... . It’s more a matter of whether they have consistent work or not.”
