Steve Womack targets Obama teleprompters

Posted By on Wed, Feb 16, 2011 at 6:21 AM

The bumptious U.S. Rep. Steve Womack, fresh off giving up $15 million in federal money to build a bike trail linking communities in his congressional district, is really getting serious about legislating.

Huffington Post is the link for some truly serious Womack work:

Rep. Steve Womack (R-Ark.) intended to introduce an amendment that would prohibit federal funds from being used to buy and maintain teleprompters for President Obama, but his spokesman told The Huffington Post that they couldn't get the Congressional Budget Office's score in time to submit it. The congressman plans to introduce it in the future though and anticipates it could save taxpayers $5 million.

Think how many millions could be saved by cutting the communication staffs, TV studio privileges and the like for members of Congress, particularly since the Republicans from Arkansas don't provide those services on an equal basis to all who request them. Womack didn't return our request for info about the bike trail yesterday. It is office policy of Sen. John Boozman not to provide information to the Arkansas Times. Rep. Rick Crawford, similarly, does not respond to our questions. Rep. Tim Griffin, to his credit, provides customary press services to all, as best we can tell.
