Back when the gun lobby took away home rule on gun laws, they did leave the ability for a local government, by a two-thirds vote, to enact gun prohibitions during a state of emergency declared by a governor. No more. Without a dissenting vote (though 11 representatives had the good grace not to vote), the House completed passage today on legislation to strip that one remaining piece of local authority away. Sen. Bill Sample and Rep. Loy Mauch were lead sponsors. Which figures.
