This is smaller government?

Republican Sen. Michael Lamoureux has introduced a bill to create a new judgeship in his part of the state. I thought the Republicans opposed expanding government.

According to the most recent data on file at the administrative office of the courts, the district in which Lamoureux, who is a lawyer, says a new judge is needed ranks behind nine other judicial districts in caseload per judge.
