  • CRANE MEETS PLANE: Lands safely despite nose damage.

The Friday night line commences. Noted:

* Fox 16 is reporting an emergency landing at Little Rock National Airport by a Delta regional jet that hit a flock of cranes. Fox 16's photo above tells the tale. Plane landed uneventfully despite the collision with a large bird.

* Democrats are pressing legislation to stop congressional pay in the event of a Republican-forced government shutdown. Some Republicans, such as Rep. Tim Griffin, have jumped on the no-pay bandwagon.

But however folks found out, they turned out in huge numbers, more than thousand men, women and children, on the grounds of the state Capitol to listen to speakers from all faiths and many countries.
