No progress on congressional redistricting

Posted By on Thu, Apr 7, 2011 at 1:25 PM

The House State Agencies Committee met at 1 p.m. today to consider the Senate-passed redistricting plan. As I wrote last night, it wasn't approved.

The committee also rejected an amendment to incorporate a plan drawn by Sen. Jim Luker, similar in growing the 4th District into Pope County, but leaving Ashley in the 4th.

The House met briefly earlier before adjourning until Monday. That made it clear that it didn't expect anything to come out of House committee today. I guess there's still a chance to see if the House's hard line will push some senators to join a majority to take the House bill out of committee and adopt it.
