Kimbrough withdraws from Southern U. job hunt

Posted By on Thu, Apr 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM

Philander Smith College President Walter Kimbrough has withdrawn from consideration for the job of chancellor of Southern University in Baton Rouge, the Baton Rouge Advocate reports. He was said to be pursuing "other job opportunities." His name has been mentioned with several job searches currently underway in higher education circles.

UPDATE: Dr. Kimbrough saw the item and commented:

THEY said I was pursuing other opportunities; I didn't tell them that. I told the search consultant that it appeared based on the news reports that they were looking for someone with different skills than what I offered, so it was best for me to withdraw.
